Hand Painted Museum Textile by Studio Bhatt X Kirit Chitara
For this hand painted wall hanging we reconstructed the complex motifs of two chintz textiles in the collection of the Museum of Friesland: a fragment of a 'Japanese' motif (T1982-163) and a morning gown (Japonse rok) Our new work reveals the origin, richness and intricacy of the 18th century textiles.
Exhibited in Fries Museum (2017) and Fashion & Textile Museum, London (2021) as part of the exhibition Chintz: Cotton in Bloom (Sits: Katoen in Bloei).
