Other Characters is a textile series based on An Alphabet of Shapes - a modular visual language of 100+ shapes, all derived from a single motif found in a historical Indian block print design.
Featuring flowing, semi-transparent textiles, the series merges linear patterns with the soft geometry of An Alphabet of Shapes. Hand-printed using archival wooden blocks, Other Characters reinterprets the essence of the ancient technique of block printing — pattern, repetition, and colour — through an experimental approach that honours the craft, expands its creative potential and invites new ways of seeing.
